The goal of this course is to provide an overview of all the basic tools that will allow you to make a poster in Inkscape (or other visuals you may need).

 

Together we will walk through all the basic drawing and text editing tools, while discussing simple but important design principles that will help you build your scientific poster. I will also show you how to import figures and how to make sure our final file has the appropriate dimension and resolution for printing.

• No previous design skills are required.

• You will need to bring a computer (or join someone with a computer to work in pairs) with Inkscape (vers. 0.92.1) installed.

• For your own comfort, I also recommend bringing a mouse! Drawing with a touchpad is possible but much slower.

• Important: If you use LaTeX and would like to be able to insert formulas in your poster, please install the TexText extension following these instructions: bitbucket
